TN: 2006 Inman OGV Pinot Noir

  • 2006 Inman Family Pinot Noir Olivet Grange Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (8/22/2009)
Unscrewed and slow-oxygenated for 4 hours, but not decanted. Beautiful crushed dark cherry fruit, with hints of rose petal. Smooth, clean and well-delineated structure, but no hard edges. Touches of oak, but the fruit is center-stage right now. This 2006 is drinking really well considering how youthful this still is…atypical for these wines. Easier drinking than the 05 at this point…but I think ultimately the 05 will be better with a few more years of cellaring. This will be hard to keep my hands off of…delicious wine.

I miss Kathleen’s wines - they were among the most impressive wines I sampled at Family Winemakers, and I never had the chance to pick any up!

Scott, good call on slow-ox over using the decanter. I’ve had some recent experiences with Kathleen’s wines that suggest that they just don’t like the decanter. I spoke with her about it and she has had some similar experiences. From now on I plan to just take off the cap 4 to 6 hours before drinking - I guess this juice needs to be coaxed into its best form.

Great wines and great people to deal with.
I have been enjoying the Endless Crush Roses all summer.

That is SUCH a great wine!

I’m a big fan of her Pinot Gris as well. Basically I like all the Inman offerings!

You guys are making me thirsty. I’m going to have to crack into my Endless Crush stash some more…like as in, tonight.

Also just saw on FB that Kathleen is picking today…for a sparkler. [dance-clap.gif]

A sparkler!!!

She did have a note about producing a sparkling rose for next year. Look forward to that one.

Her Facebook postings are fun…Examples: washing picking bins and marking rows this morning for the first pick at OGV tomorrow…sampling grapes. Two vineyards down, one to go…then more coffee!

She just posted some pics from the picking and bin washing. And she has a great smile!!
