TN: 2006 Inman Family Pinot Noir Thorn Road Vineyard

2006 Inman Family Pinot Noir Thorn Road Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (9/2/2009)
Popped and poured, enjoyed over two hours. Tart cranberry, sage and rosemary. This is the antithesis to the overoaked, thick, sweet, syrupy, cola, cherry cough syrup that can plague California pinot. Paired beautifully with petrale sole and whole wheat pasta, enhancing both without overpowering either.

I just received my shipment of Inman family wines - ‘Endless Crush’ Rose, RRV Pinot Noir, and Pinot Gris - hope to enjoy them soon, as it has been a while for me (since Family Winemakers in Del Mar)

Todd, I too really enjoyed the Inman Family wines at Del Mar and at a tasting that Kathleen hosted for Dana and I about a year ago. These were quite different, as Brian pointed out, than most California Pinots.

True. Fans of the big California Syrah - oops! I meant Pinot! - won’t be fans of her wines, which are much more subtle and delicate in nature, great floral aromatics, not fruit bombs. The Endless Crush Rose is truly fantastic - I was turned on to this by our very own Kimberly Cabot while we watched John flirt with cougars from afar.

We had the pleasure of having a personal tasting with Kathleen this spring, and the 06 Thorn Road was my favorite of the three Pinots(all were oustanding to my palatte)at that time. My notes indicate the bright acidity, with nice baking spices surrounding pure cherry fruit. Big fan here.
