TN: 2006 Gary Farrell Chardonnay Cresta Ridge Russian River Valley

  • 2006 Gary Farrell Chardonnay Cresta Ridge Russian River Valley - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (9/4/2009)
Lots of oak on the nose that I was expecting to translate to the flavor but it never did. Lemon, lime, green apples, and white peach with lovely acidity with a nice refreshing finish. My buddy said it is his new favorite chardonnay. First time for me from this producer and I am impressed.

Nice note, Ramon. I’m always surprised at how much oak the Cresta Ridge shows in the nose. But you’re dead on with this note – it doesn’t come through on the palate. It’s an interesting thing. I definitely dig the 2006s that Susan Reed put out. Terrific stuff. She’s making notable Chards, in particular.
