TN: 2006 Fèlsina Chianti Classico Riserva

  • 2006 Fattoria di Fèlsina Berardenga Chianti Classico Riserva - Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Chianti Classico (12/17/2009)
nose: tight, but lovely nose of marjoram, roasted herbs, red cherries, plums, bits of leather, tobacco, red florals and some bits of potpurri. Good depth and expression on the nose that is quintessentially tuscany

taste: Good tannins and medium+ acidity with well balanced tones of red cherries, marjoram, leather, tobacco, potpurri, and various spices and herbs

overall: this needs time. Very good acidity and tannins give this a good backbone, this really is asking for some aging to let it all come together and show itself off fully. Pretty good off of pop n pour, this is delicious and a great example of chianti classico riserva (91 pts.)

Perfect timing for the note Keith.

We just tasted 11 06 Chiantis, from base level to svd and this showed the best to my palate. Refined, typic and well crafted. It shows much more accessible than the Rancia which was backward and monolithic. I hope to post my impressions soon.

Faryan

Felsina is always a winner. I really like good Chianti Riservas with a few more years on them though. They get gentler and relaxed and the bouquet is pretty crazy.

Check back in ten years! Or 12!
