TN: 2006 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Côtes du Rhône Mon Coeur

Funky nose that blew off quickly with some air, Raspberries and smokey cherries with some leather and underbrush on the palate, nicely balanced right now and a joy to drink.

Drinking great right now , preferred this to the '05. Anyone had an '07?

We’ve still got a couple of '03s someplace that need to get opened. I remember thinking this was a very good QPR wine, but haven’t tried more recent vintages.

I’ve been enjoying the 06 over the past six months or so and have consistently found that the leftovers are better the next day (after refrigerating them). It’s funny, but the syrah shows more on the first day but the grenache comes to the fore on the second day. Given the tannins (soft but substantial), I figure this will probably benefit from a year or two in the bottle.

I just picked up a bottle of the 07 at Zachy’s this week but haven’t tried it yet.
