TN: 2006 Dehlinger "Claret" RRV

As requested by T-Bone.

This is an excellent wine, I should have purchased a case of it (I think Tom was selling these for about $35).

Medium dark ruby red. Expressive aromas. Concentrated red and black fruit flavors with just the slightest hint of green (which I love in cab). Great RRV cab typicity. Characteristic Dehlinger Balance. Medium tannins, which are very well behaved. Lingering aftertaste.

This wine is delicious, open and giving. Based on my experience with Dehlinger cabs, it should continue to improve (by filling out and gaining more depth) for several more years.

Bone, you’ll enjoy this tremendously right now. With a little patience, you’ll enjoy this tremendously + !

Thanks Mike! I keep reaching in, and then pulling my hand back. It’s been the hardest thing. His Claret’s and Cabs (to me) are some of the finest I’ve had. Everytime I crack one, I am simply amazed that more folks haven’t figured this out…which is fine by me!

Cheers!

For my $, the best value in cab … anywhere! I’m going to load up on 07.

Thanks for the note; I looked at one a couple of days ago wondering how it would be if I opened it.

Still going strong at age 14. Lovely nose of blackberry fruit, menthol and smoky asphalt. Nice bright black fruit on the palate, nice earthy notes with some tannic backbone still. Cries out for a burger or a steak. No hurry to drink if you have some, this had plenty of life left, but drinking great today.

Drank my last bottle of this this summer. It was amazing.

You both are lucky to still have some of these around!

Had this Saturday night, agreed drinking very well with grilled tri-tip.

Best thing about this thread is that TBone is in it!

No offense, Jud neener

What happened to T bone?

He’s good! Just doesn’t post, texted him this thread, maybe he’ll jump in!
