TN: 2006 Cristom Pinot Noir Marjorie Vineyard (USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley)

  • 2006 Cristom Pinot Noir Marjorie Vineyard - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (12/19/2009)
    Decanted 45 minutes. Alluring and seductive right from the get go, as X-mas spice, cherry, and anise notes made more than a favorable impression on the nose. The palate carried a solid core of bright red cherries, 06 ripe yes, but held back by wonderfully silky underlying structure. a very ‘clean’ Pinot. Pockets of new wood would appear about every third sip, but experience has taught me that this will only be a temporary player once this has had a little more time rest. The medium + finish adds soil intrigue to seal the deal. A hand well played in the often over the top 2006 OR vintage. (91 pts.)

Dale;

Excellent TN! thanks for the notes and effort.

Thanks Gordon. I would also recommend the 06 Jesse, which is typically my favorite Cristom single vineyard in most years.

Steve Doerner is a genius, but I just can’t feel the love for those 06s. Tasty, if you’re looking for ripe whole cluster Cali Pinot. Now, 05 and 07… flirtysmile
