TN: 2006 Carlisle Zinfandel Carlisle Vineyard (USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley)

    First time having this particular bottling. Good deep dark color to it. Nose of dark fruits really jump out completed nicely by what can only be described as damp earth. Full bodied wine, with dark berries really coming through on the mid-palate leading to a finish that has a bit of a dark chocolate taste to it. Great balance of fruit, acidity and tannins that ties this together really nicely.

I was worried that after being open for a while that this may fall off just a bit, due to the fact that about 3 hours after opening I (for a second) thought I was getting a pruney element to it. (Which I hae.) That never materialized though as this wine really held on well over the course of the evening.

the 05 carlisle zin carlisle vineyard was the first carlisle I ever had and it was a tasty tasty tasty zin. Notes are similar to yours except there is that minty quality to it that made it really refreshing.

This is a rocking wine. Fun to drink it alongside the Novy, too, if you can. Different styles but great expression. This is probably my favorite 2006 Carlisle.
