TN: 2006 Booker The Alchemist 30 month.

Syrah and Cab blend.
First bottle was badly corked. Emailed them, got a reply within 10 minutes. New bottle, no questions. Great service.
Second bottle…for the first hour it was tight and giving off nothing. Dark as hell and thick as motor oil. An hour later it started to give off chocolate scents that got to me while the wine was sitting about 4 feet away. At first that was all, huge chocolate and oak. With a lot of swirling blackberries, ripe plums and some beef and spice come to the surface. By glass number 2 the nose was reminiscent of a SQN syrah powerful but complex. The palate is not quite as exciting…yet. Still tight and intense. Lots of fruit density but wrapped tightly. Tannins in there, acid in there, fruit in there but not ready to pop. Left half of the bottle for tomorrow. I think these will be awesome.

Sounds intriguing. I just received my first box of mystery meat and looking forward to trying one soon. Seems I didn’t get what everyone else did though – ended up with a couple vintages of vertigo, an 05 something or other, and 2 whites.

I didnt do any assorted packs, I got specifically 2 of each of the long aged ones.

Oh yeah, I vaguely remember that in another thread somewhere – that My Favorite Neighbor sold out before you got to it. I got one of those in my monkey pack. neener

Just pop one already.

The fruit got redder on day two. Lots of cinnamon and other sweet baking spices on the nose, some purple flowers and still some chocolate. The palate has a surprising dose of acid, which makes the fruit brighter and a little less ripe. Still long finish. These need time, but it was great on day two. I think the high acidity would make for a good foil for food, if such is your inclination.

I knew you were gonna love this. Not really my style anymore but really well made.

And you sir, were correct
