TN: 2006 Azienda Agricola Montevertine Le Pergole Torte Toscana IGT

  • 2006 Azienda Agricola Montevertine Le Pergole Torte Toscana IGT - Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT (12/23/2011)
Dark ruby core. The nose shows some clean red fruit along with spicy cloves and just a breath of VA. Medium to full bodied Sangiovese. Tart cherry fruit with some excellent spicy qualities. Soft in the mouth, this gently lays across the palate as the tart fruit envelops and demands a return to the glass. Some darker fruit and ripe tannins show up on the finish. As good a bottle of Sangiovese as I’ve ever had.

Love this producer! Haven’t splurged for the Le Pergole yet as the other bottling is so dam good. Glad it rides under the radar of Parker and the WS.

I had a totally meh '01. What mature vintage would people recommend for another try?

If you are lucky enough to find old ones in good shape you are in for great bottle. The 1990 Riserva is one of the best bottle of wine I’ve ever had. Also 88-92-96-99 and many more
