Talk about QPR heaven! I’ve been trying to find something in the $20 range and haven’t found much. Well lookie-lou! This baby is nice and light and full of cherry with a little cola fizz (which I like). This wine feels fully integrated and balanced with nice acidity. Not the longest finish but still so bright and fresh. Maybe a little herbal. Much better than bottles at the same price that taste like water with Pinot flavor added. It blows my mind how you can pick up a wine like this from great producer for such a good price, yet pick up watery, sugar pinots for the same price or more. I don’t do points because my points wouldn’t mean shit. Enjoys this wine my friends.
It seems to always work like this…someone posts a tasting note while I am consuming said wine!
Great notes. My bottle is going down with ease right now. Great wine, great QPR, so stoked I got yet another case of this!
Where did you find a case?? I would love more of this. It also pairs nicely with The Hangover.
I also opened a bottle of this last night and continue to be impressed as the wine spends more time in the bottle. I didn’t get the cola or cola fizz, but rather I found it to be earthy, with forest floor and tart cherries. Definitely a great QPR IMO.
This wine rocks, flat out.
It sure does. I’m down to 5 and getting a little nervous.
Jeb - I ordered a case (or so
)during the Odds/Ends offering from Rhys, then doubled up when they offered up the early Syrah bottle.
Basically, I stockpiled some of the San Mateo’s along with a good deal of other 06 Alesia’s. Glad I did…
Damn… lucky you. I’m going to have to try to find some more.
