2005 Wesmar Pinot Noir Balletto Vineyard (Sonoma Coast, CA)
Popped and poured on Saturday night with dinner.
Lovely nose full of high-toned cherries and raspberries along with Chinese 5-spice and nutmeg. In the mouth, very balanced, acidity in check with a smooth, slightly peppery finish. Pretty much what I expect and like about these WesMar pinots and very food-friendly to boot. However, there was a little left last night which didn’t show as well.
Overall, delicious now, but still has some more years to go before it nails the bulls-eye.
