TN: 2005 Walter Hansel Winery Pinot Noir The North Slope

I really enjoyed this; I could easily classify this as the non cali pinot drinkers cali pinot.

pretty nose of brambly raspberries, nutmeg, ginger and underbrush. Hints of soy, cinnamon and sesame also peek through. Nose is very perfume like filling the senses rolling with pomegranate and Asian spices. Palate is very linear and focused. A little hollow in the middle which will probably come together over time. Nice mouth feel, light to medium bodied with good acidity. Lots of toasty oak, cigar box and strawberry fruit. Very expansive on the finish with the smallest touch of heat, barely noticeable. Great wine that probably needs a few more years to come together but still enjoyable now. (91 pts.)

Tyler, i’m glad you enjoyed this since I have one too…haha, thanks to Tryba, we both had one! I’ll sit on mine a little longer and we can share it when you come to your senses and decide not to move back to Cali!

have usually enjoyed the Hansel PN line up but recently had the '03 Cahill Lane along with an '03 Michel Gay Aloxe-Corton and much preferred the Michel Gay.
