Poured and decanted two hours. 14.8% alcohol. A lovely nose of creme-de cassis, dried tobacco and red plums is followed by a rather thick and viscous palate of pure current and very subtle wood. There are little if any tannins to speak of, thus I suspect the wine was casked in primarily used oak. This is not a second wine of Vineyard 29 but is sourced from six Valley and Hillside vineyards and “made in the style of Vineyard 29”.
I purchased 6 bottles of this wine before the Economy tanked for about $40.00 a bottle and would still happily pay that tariff today. A very nice reasonably priced Cali Cab made by Phillipe Melka as is the more pricey and well endowed Vineyard 29 Estate Wines.

3 1/2 flirties and nearly 4; a solid value.
Nice note, Mr Bulkin.
I am a fan of Melka as well.
I picked up a 6-pack of the '06 just because I like P. Melka and I thought this might be a good deal @ $45/per bottle. Well, I was right. Really good juice, good value, this vintage has some sharp tannins that need to mellow, so try again in a year or two. Definitely recommended.
Jack and Dave, gotta try this one also made my Melka: Long Shadows Pirouette

I have tried the Pirouette Mike, the 05 I believe. The wine was very well made, a smidge softer than a Napa Cab if I recall correctly.
