TN: 2005 Ulysse Collin Champagne Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs (France, Champagne)

  • 2005 Ulysse Collin Champagne Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs - France, Champagne (2/19/2012)
Very nice BdB. More citrus/mineral driven than yeast/brioche. Lean. Apple and sweet lemons on the nose. Mid palate has an interesting bitterness. Distinct white floral tones, ginger and oyster shell. Didn’t detect much of the dough or any of the oak spice mentioned in a couple of CT notes.
I’ll buy this again if I see it. (92 pts.)

Ulysse Collin and Cazals are my two “non Salon” favorites. Vilmart is creeping up, though.
