Dark purple tinged color. This has the classy crème de cassis and camphor I so love. A mid to heavy weight cab with great reme de cassis, black cherry notes, some earth and some pencil shavings. Very seductive and pure, just what I believe these are known for. A year or two would surely make this a stunner. 92/100
I saw your comment re: One Point Five being worth the $60. Is this one worth it? I bought some of the 2002 a few years back but haven’t even considered them since based on the price hikes.
Dave, I’m a fan. Good thing for drinkers/aficionados is that this can usually be found at a discount from winery prices. When these reach $130 or so it gets tricky to answer that question honestly. When found discounted, by all means. Even the '03 was amazing.
Bring one to Staten Island and lets find out…
When you say “found discounted”, how low are you finding them? I want to say I only paid like $90 for the 2002 and the 2005 looks to be going for $150 and up. Tough sell for me at that price range.
I wouldn’t be against bringing a 2002 to a future offline. I also have some 97 Staglin that is drinking nicely now. Has to be after tax season, though. Of course there are many cabs in my cellar that I could bring to a future offline…
let me know if you want in the emails for this upcoming dinner.
