TN: 2005 Skewis Pinot Noir Lingenfelder (USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley)

Medium red in color with a beautiful nose of red fruit, spice and floral elements. Once again time has benefited as the wine has gained a good bit of weight since I last tried it in May. Red fruit and plum framed by trademark Skewis spicey notes on the finish. The wine is lush and complex but perfectly in balance. It hit its peak after being open about 90 minutes so there is no rush to drink these. This has now approached the 05 Bush as an outstanding wine. Sadly it is my last. (94 pts.)

A quick search on WB could not turn up much on Skewis so here is a bit of cheerleading. You will be hard pressed to find a better pinot for $$. They and Scherrer are my favorite’s to match with food. Great folks and value WB.

I’ll now step off my soapbox. [soap.gif]

Agreed on all counts. [cheers.gif]
