TN: 2005 Siduri Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard (USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands)

Goodbye to the holiday weekend.

  • 2005 Siduri Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands (9/7/2009)
Nearly two years 2 the day since my last bottle of this wine. And in looking over that note, as well as the more recent TNs in the database, I would agree with the positive takes on this wine, too. As with 2 years back, I still get the same funky note (no, not barnyard or brett), a medium weight wine with a core of creamy red tinged fruit, some cool citrusy acidity, delicate minerality and just a refreshing wine, overall. It’s got a nice mix of ripe and restraint, with both working very well together for balance. I wish I too had more!

Frank - was this one of the wines poured at the Pisoni-Fest at toddland?

I seem to remember a couple Siduris there, but don’t recall if there was a Pisoni vineyard, nor what vintage, and I’m too lazy to look. It’s Labor Day, for cripes sake!

Nice note, Frank. I really enjoy what Adam does with Pisoni more than most other producers. It just strikes me as a perfect representation of the place, and this might be my favorite vintage … until the 2008. Isn’t it amazing how there can be that little bit of funk on Siduri Pinots that you’re not quite sure how to place? It isn’t brett or barnyard … it’s … it’s almost like a thumbprint on the wines.

Tom… Joe Davis makes a pretty nice Pisoni… and of course there’s always Pisoni!! I know you covered your lawyer ass with the `most other’… just pulling your dangling chain.

Jim – I’m glad you can see how it dangles. HA! Yeah, I like Joe’s version. For some reason, I’ve always found Adam’s to hit my sweet spot the most. I’ve never been an epic fan of Pisoni Vineyard for Pinot, but it can really get there with some age.

Jim - love the pic of your daughter and grandchild - very sweet.

So, Frenchie, you don’t ever want to drink wine with me again? Is that it? [swearing.gif]

Well, it gets expensive to drink with you, as we buy you lavish Red Velvet birthday cakes and you don’t show up…
