TN: 2005 Roessler Pinot Noir Sanford and Benedict - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Rita Hills

Popped and poured, drank with a dinner of salmon, haricots verts and mashed potatoes. Earthy, forest nose. Sweet cherries, very soft. Heat on the finish. Not exactly what I was looking for, nor my style any longer.

i enjoyed this pinot and our note is very similar. i wish the finish matched the rest. btw what is your style now?

Charlie,

I, like my fellow deadhead Dennis, have begun my descent into the depths of Burgundy…

Much more interested in balance, structure, acidity than pure power, or pure fruit, or anything that is one-dimensional. I just didn’t find this all that interesting. I like Roessler wines, especially the Savoy, as they usually show a lot more acidity. This bottle just didn’t have any of the things that I now look for in a pinot noir.

foshizzle. Same here. Ever since leaving SD been drinking mostly the french pinot. I do agree on this wine it doesn’t show much acidity, but I do like the softness of the fruit and the freshness of the nose. I think I got it for $25 so I thought it was a pretty good deal for the price
