This didn’t blow me away today. Color heading towards a mature gold. The French Champagne served ahead of it made this wine seem kind of oaky and lacking in vibrancy. Rich, toasty with some decent minerality and citurs flavors. If I had more I don’t think I’d wait more than 1 or 2 yrs to drink up. Kind of disapointing. (89 pts.)

Craig,

Agree with your thoughts on the wine. Initially the Oak really jumped out at me, but over time the oak seemed to integrate. I think will a few years this will be a knockout wine.

What was the Champagne you brought to lunch? Great toasty profile that we really enjoyed. Also, fun running into you outside at Zelo. What was the Resling and the Barbera you brought? We both really enjoyed those as well.

Cheers,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Hi Jeff, glad you enjoyed the RHYS. It didn’t flip my trigger yesterday but maybe it just caught me wrong.

Here are the other wines we shared at lunch and later on Nicollet mall.

2006 Giacomo Conterno Barbera d’Alba Cascina Francia
1999 De Meric Champagne Cuvée Catherine de Medicis Brut from Ay via K&L
2007 Schloss Schönborn Hattenheimer Pfaffenberg Riesling Kabinett
