I really enjoy the elegance of the R-C Savoys. The wine is drinking well at this point, but will probably benefit for another year in the cellar. Nice flavors of cherry and plums, with just a little touch of spicyness of black pepper. Nice smooth tannins, medium length. Quite enjoyable. (90 pts.)

Nice note Robert. I’ve enjoyed many of the R-C Savoys the past several years. I think the 2003 has been my favorite so far. Those had the advantage of some additional years in the bottle vs. the 2005’s, though.

Out of curiosity have you had an Adrian Fog Savoy pinot?

I haven’t had the pleasure of trying an Adrian Fog Savoy. The R-C Savoy is one of the wines that I make sure to buy every year (thank goodness for allocations.)

Thanks for the note.

I had this about year ago and had a similar drinking experience; can definitely benefit from more time in the cellar.

Well for some reason the AF Savoy is either loved or hated (check out CT notes). I personally find them to be very enjoyable. The R-C has thus far avoided any similar controversy and rightfully so.

Thanks for the note. I have enjoyed RC and especially the Savoy but haven’t tried the 05 … although I do have 3 bottles. It seems like the 04 RCs were a little much as was the vintage but have hopes for the 05s. One respected poster here did not like this wine according to CT … I hope she chimes in.
