Yesterday I spent most of the day helping bottling ENO Wines Pinot Noir and Viognier and the Broc Cellars “Philary Vineyard” Syrah. After bottling we tasted through some blind bottles…here’s one
2005 Philip Staley, Grenache, Russian River Valley, CA
Did not like this at all on Saturday when opened. Tasted like a Gamay Noir that saw a lot of tartaric acid added. On day two, red raspberries, a little spice and some floral component but lots of acid and a little bubble gum quality…$22 according to the price tag…I would still pass at that price. Oh well, at least the beer was good.
