2005 Outpost Cabernet Sauvignon True Vineyard - USA, California, Napa Valley, Howell Mountain (9/7/2013)
Pretty nose of cola and cassis infused blackberries. Palate shows such a finely weaved bevy of good Cab things, I don’t know where to start. I will start with the fruit! Blackberries and boysenberry with hints of currants and blackcherry. Tannins are lofty but in the background and overall balance is pretty amazing. The real story here today is alchemy. This just oozes it. So much life ahead of it, but it drinks so beautifully right now. Finish is long and all the black fruits remian in play. I think I have chosen well for an early Fall Saturday; one that has grilled steaks and my favorite lady. (93 pts.)
