2005 Marc Chauvet Champagne Special Club - France, Champagne, Montagne de Reims, Champagne (4/6/2014)
Pours a pale, green-flecked gold with very thin, tight streams of bubbles. The nose is dominated by notes of citrus and lees, with supporting notes of green apple. On the palate there’s a balance of rich, golden apple and white peach along with tart lemon and lime flavors. Those are supported by more of the leesy richness. Acidity is lively and impressive, supporting the ripe flavors. I think this is an impeccably made, very age-worthy Champagne that’s worth every cent.
