TN: 2005 La Sirena Syrah Barrett Vineyard (USA, California, Napa Valley)

Cork had a little leakage about 1/3 of the way up on one side. Worried me when I opened it, but decanted and put back in cooler for 1.5 hours.

No nose, no fruit, no taste other than the alcohol. What a waste.

Two bottles left. Hopefully they will shine. NR (flawed)

That sucks, sorry about the bad bottle. I haven’t had this bottling but have enjoyed her Napa syrah in previous vintages. I’d love to try this bottling!

Both bottles that I have had have been horribly corked, There might be a trend here.

Of the 3 vintages of LaSirena Syrah I’ve had, I’ve been singularly unimpressed with them all.
Mostly for having little fruit and lots of toasty/Fr.oak…a Syrah made by a Cabernet producer…
a fault of many of the (up-vlly) NapaVlly Syrahs I try.

Bummer on all counts. Especially considering I have 5 more of these. That’s potentially a lot of wasted wine and money.

Will be trying the 05 Cab tonight. Need to decide on reordering or passing.

Oddly enough, i have enjoyed the Napa syrah more that her cabs under this label! I think the Moscato Azul is the best of the bunch though. Just a fun little wine.

I totally agree on the Moscato Azul. I’ve stopped buying anything other than that from them.
