2005 Kapcsandy Family Winery Roberta’s Reserve State Lane Vineyard - USA, California, Napa Valley, Yountville (6/30/2014)
Deep dark color, wonderful nose of expresso and black fruit.It glides onto the palate and reveals mocha, dark fruit and tobacco notes. It’s layered and complex with nice supporting structure and a silky mouthfeel. This was double decanted at home(sediment) and taken to a restaurant. Somm decanted again before i could stop him. The wine tightened up later at dinner and some drying tannins emerged at the end. I believe this wine was heading higher and closed down a bit. Drink now with slow ox for a few hours or short decant. Excellent wine. (94 pts.)
