TN: 2005 Jones Family The Sisters (USA, California, Napa Valley)

  • 2005 Jones Family The Sisters - USA, California, Napa Valley (9/19/2009)
Super deep and dark as usual, this one needs a minimum of 1-2 hours to really show itself. Great creme de kirsch and cola on the nose. The palate has chewy black and dark red fruits of currant, blackberry and black plum pudding. The mouhfeel is plush and elegant. A wonderful balanced wine, this has all the hallmarks of a full-breed Napa cabernet, at half the price. The tannins are intricately weaved and spun to help create the great mouthfeel. The finish is a minute plus, and the fruit never quits. (93 pts.)

I believe this is one of the SINGLE best QPRs in the Valley today. $50 and usually offered with free shipping. I continue to be a tremendous fan.
oh, the Estate is awesome too!

Cannot wait to see what TRB does here. The '08 out of barrel for the Estate was tremendous.

[dance-clap.gif] Love this wine. I had to order more so I could drink some more of them while they were young. Have one standing up right now next to the Jones Family that we are going to drink together. I haven’t had the big brother yet but am looking forward to it.

Why? Do you think TRB will improve the wines? I look forward to the TRBs but I love the wines so kind of hope they don’t change.

Jason

Jason, I too would hope that the Jones Family maintains its style.
And I know it will, first hand.

As great as Thomas’ wines are, diversity and being true to each piece of dirt will pay dividends for us all.

Now, if every cabernet tasted like Schrader—Hmmm, let me reconsider that thought… newhere

Maybe not improve, but put his touch on their terroir. Do I want another Maybach or Schrader…no.

Gotchya. I have never tasted a Schrader and as far as I remember, never had a Maybach.

Just ordered a bottle of the 06. What a no brainer…$50 with shipping included.

wish more wineries would do this. can’t tell you how many times minimum purchases and high shipping costs prevented me from buying.

maybe $50 is the new $300 with folks like Jones, RM, Rudius, Emerson Brown, Myriad, etc on the block.

Sadly, I have none left of the 05’s. Of course I only bought 18 bottles. But this wine was by far the best QPR I had from the 2005 Napa vintage.

I look forward to the 06’s… and TRB’s input.
