TN: 2005 Hewitt Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Grown Rutherford

  • 2005 Hewitt Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Grown Rutherford - USA, California, Napa Valley, Rutherford (11/6/2009)
Decanted 2 hours. Dark purple, plenty of berries and spice on the nose. Tannins are gripping, but the fruit hangs out with it, making for a long finish. Definitely worth the $40. (91 pts.)

Happy to hear it’s worth $40. I hust never seen it lower than $60.

The potential is there for a world class wine.

Previous retail around $70 - $80. Had the '03 a few weeks back: huge wine that needs time but great potential.

Steal at $40 I would think!!!

very good wine year-in & year-out, think it is nearly $80-90 up @ Provenance these days.

This was from their tasting room. I couldn’t remember the price exactly, it may have been $45. The lady at the cashier did ask another guy about the pricing. Guess we just got lucky? The guy doing our tasting seemed real amenable to negotiating prices to move product.

I preferred the '04 to the '05. I wasn’t thrilled with the '05, especially at the $60 price.
