TN: 2005 Futo OV (USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville)

My first Futo…very dark berried, tannic beast. Ripe blackberry/blueberry/black cherry/plum fruit…dusty dry tannins with some heat spice, cocoa powder, charcoal, good dose of toasty French vanilla oak, green tobacco leaves, berry liqueur. I like the dryness of the charcoal and cocoa powder…killer fruit, tasty wine, yet structured for some age. This wine reminds me a lot of a Caymus/Ghost Block combo…totally Oakville. I taste similarities of both in this. I like it…and it should gain in age. But it is way over priced imo. Would be a perfect $30 wine…and the big boy should go for $100. (93 pts.)

OUCH!

Sounds better than our Futo experience, but then again, that’s like…2x the $!!
A FUTPR!

Glad to hear the alcohol has gotten into check…the last time I had it it was WAY out of control…

What are the odds this winery survives with their current pricing strategy??
