TN: 2005 Dominique Laurent Corton Vieilles Vignes Blanc

  • 2005 Dominique Laurent Corton Vieilles Vignes Blanc - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru (12/4/2014)
Don’t recall ever having a Laurent white but I have to say this was splendid. There was a touch of mineral reduction to the aroma that blew off to reveal honeysuckle, aniseed and ripe orchard fruit aromas. In the mouth it started off like an exotic Montrachet with layers of sappy peach fruit, custard apple and butter but it tightened through the palate with a big squeeze of lemon. It is a wine of great richness and power yet it is by no means heavy and it has line and underlying minerality.

Yes, indeed!
Why can’t we buy more Laurent Blanc? His 2006s were marvelous (my QPR 140%).
What happened, Premier Cru?

Hey Ralph!

Seems to me I picked up a couple of the 2006 CC at around $40 a pop from PC. The were indeed quite good especially considering the vintage. Used to be you could pick up lots of D. Laurent from PC at severe discounts but those days seem to be over.

Aloha!
