- 2005 Domenico Clerico Barolo Ciabot Mentin Ginestra - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (1/11/2026)
P&P. Over the last decade or so, my experiences with Clerico wines from 99 to 07 have been usually pretty good with a few disappointments sprinkled in from time to time. I really wasn’t expecting too much, and was rather surprised how enjoyable this was last night with skillet pizza with sausage, fennel, and basil. Completely avoids any dry notes from the oak - this a really delicious core of dark plums, full bloom red rose, and a dash of spices. Acidity and tannin are in full maturity - and respectable coverage on the finish. At peak and should hold at this level for 5 more years give or take. (94 points)
