2005 Domaine Claude Nouveau Santenay 1er Cru Grand Clos Rousseau- France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Santenay 1er Cru (6/5/2009)
Wow, this was REALLY tart out of the chute. Decent fruit with a hint of green, pleasant green like fresh cut tomato leaves. When we were down to half a bottle I shook the hell out of it, calmed it right down. The second half of the bottle was meaty, earthy with great minerality. The acid though… jury’s out for me. I hope these age well 'cause I got a lot of 'em.
The 2006 from Thomas Morey cut and pasted from my blog. Alsp Marc Colin makes a killer one. I don’t know Nouveau.
I love the 2007 Santenay 1er Cru “Grand Clos Rousseau”. The nose jumps out with precise brambly red fruits and some tweed jacket. Dusty nose with hints of dark cherries. A rustic nose, true to its Santenay heritage. Full mouthful with very clearly defined red and black fruits. Tiny berry fruit. Great concentration and structure and a long finish. The tannins are silky and much less grittier than the Bourgogne Rouge. This seems a tad unevolved at this point but I don’t see it being a long distance runner but improving for around three to five years. Lovely wine though with just wonderful fruit.
I was looking to open this last night but found out it was offsite (at my friends house)
Instead opened the 2005 Claude Nouveau Bourgogne Rouge, Hautes Cote de Beaune “Vielles Vignes”. Nice drink. Simple fruit that was darker than I expected. Needed a few hours to open up. Pretty nice for a Bourgogne ( 16.99 dollars)
I did drink thru 4 of the 2003 Jean-Claude Boisset Santenay 1er Cru Grand Clos Rousseau that were very good.
Bought all of these from Garagiste (is it OK to say that?)
Seems like I need to find more wines form this vinyard (Santenay 1er Cru Grand Clos Rousseau)
