2005 Cliff Lede Claret - USA, California, Napa Valley, Stags Leap District (6/6/2009)
Hmm. Not enough fruit and too much alcohol. Let’s see if we can disguise that with loads and loads of oak. If it doesn’t work we’ll just put Stag’s Leap District on the label and sell it for $35 - people will buy it anyway. (82 pts.)

Good point re: the label…
I’ve got some Cliff Lede cabs in the cellar - haven’t tried them, but I sure hope they fare better!
I had some of the 05 Claret maybe 1.5-2 years ago and they showed quite nicely. Maybe bottle variation, maybe a strange stage, or maybe the wine just could not age???
I remember scoring the Claret at about 90 and the Cabernet a couple of points higher.
Too bad about your poor showing.

The Stags Leap Cab in 05 was a killer at a great price. The Claret seemed meh in comparison.
ditto. As far as Napa Cab QPR goes, the '05 SLD Cab might take the cake. YMMV.
