2005 Château Rieussec - France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes (3/9/2010)
And just because we could…we finished with some desserts and this lovely wine from a 375mL bottle.
Notes of coconut, vanilla and apricot jump out of the glass. A small taste and more coconut, vanilla and stone fruit along with some honey. Enough acidity to keep it from being flabby but I do miss that spice that I love in Suiduraut…still very enjoyable and a great way to finish dinner. Long life ahead of that one. (91 pts.)

Tony,
Thanks for the note. I find just the opposite of the Rieussec & Suiduraut in 2003. Tons of spice in the Rieussec. Haven’t had the 05, but have some on order. Looking forward to it.
Chris
Tony, thanks for the notes. I have four bottles of the Rieussec but have yet to open one. I did tried the 05’ Chateau Giraud and thought was so good I bought a bunch of 375’s before the price went up.
Spot-on note, Tony. Got a few bottles of this for a song about a year ago – $25 per or so I think it was? Popped a couple way too early, and it’s just terrific with a lot of happy life ahead.
I also think they have a terrific life ahead. I’ve had this wine twice and it shows significantly better on the second day.
A song it was Tom. ![berserker [berserker.gif]](/uploads/db3686/original/2X/8/8600bbd4810d342b8fbd4ffb62b4f0026275fd37.gif)
How does the acid level on the 05s compare to the 01s? I need the 01 level of acidity to really enjoy the stickies. I am hoping the 07s have that level.
Bob I think '05 is more closely styled to '01 than '03. My experience with the '01s is limited but I’ve found '05 to be a little more ripe. Personally, I absolutely love the style of '05.
