TN: 2005 Château Mylord Cuvée Milady (France, Bordeaux, Entre-Deux-Mers)

Honestly, much better than expected given Rimmerman’s outlandish hyperbole (I should talk, since I bit and bought some, knowing full well this is not the ‘Ausone’ of Ch. Mylord… good grief!). But this was a nice wine with dinner after a one hour decant. Blackberries and a touch of leathery spice on the nose, subdued palate of dark fruit and earth, nice balance with soft tannins yet to be resolved. Main flaw is a thin mid-to-late palate. But it ain’t plonk, in fact it’s better than that. Nice. Will last some years, too. (88 pts.)

Thanks for the note Barnet. I too bought a few of these and the standard bottling - the “Mylord”. Glad to hear that the Mylady sounds much, much better than the Mylord which I would rate at about 75 -80. In fact, no bottle of Chateau Mylord that I have tasted has even come close to the hype of that offer.

A snippet from that offer - “I first started getting excited about this wine when I was served the Mylord blind and I thought it was a downscaled 2005 La Gaffeliere with freshness, intensity and dark/soily, mineral laded tone that was balanced but still quite deep and memorable – maybe Ausone’s third wine?” [scratch.gif]
