TN: 2005 Château La Nerthe Châteauneuf-du-Pape

2005 Château La Nerthe Châteauneuf-du-Pape - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (10/9/2009)
WIML90

Tasted October 9, 2009.

Purchased for $68.00 from a restaurant list. Opened and served immediately. Followed over about 90 minutes. Garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Tight nose of mostly red berries and raspberries. The palate was also quite tight only revealing red berries and perhaps either some raspberries or cherries. Medium acidity, tannins and body. The wine is obviously closed for business right now so I’d recommend holding. I’m guessing it’s around a WIML90 based on the underlying components and pedigree but that’s a pure crap shoot. Could come in higher with more time in bottle. (90 pts.)
