TN: 2005 Château La Croix St. Georges (France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol)

I was expecting a little more tannin (like most 05 BDXs), but this wine was very approachable. Even though tannins were light, still plenty of body to the wine that did not diminish over 3 hours. Nice vanilla overtones in the aroma, a little stinky (tar). Definitely some chocolate, and maybe some raspberry, on the palate but still bone dry.
Lovely bottle… drinking window? Well, I personally thought it was pretty good now; it should age without a problem for 5-8 years (maybe longer); but doesn’t seem to fall in line with some of the '05’s that should be opened in 15-30 years. (92 pts.)

My lone experience with this bottle pretty much was in line with your note. I think that is is a short term ager and really doesn’t have the stuffing to make two decades.
