Fantastic.
Pomerol may be my favorite appellation in 2005 Bordeaux.
Gazin wins in this vintage. All the hallmarks of classic Pomerol. Dank earth, pungent garlic, plummy dark fruits with a bit of a sweet liquor note with no heat. Tannins still a little chewy and chalky. This is a very structured wine, but it is starting to enter the early stages of its optimal drinking window. Paired fantastically with a pepperoni pizza, wood grilled.
I have to admit that I have an affinity for this very muscular style of Pomerol.
