TN: 2005 Chateau Bellefont-Belcier

I suppose I have had better luck with 05 St. Emilion than others on this board but I really liked this wine. A Fleur Cardinale last month was also delightful.

Crimson in color. 14.5% ABV. 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Tremendous nose of black fruits, graphite, leather and tobacco. Rich, plush and concentrated. Tremendous structure. Black cherry, licorice, currants and cassis on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Fantastic Bordeaux that is shining at 15 years of age. Another winner from St. Emilion in 2005. Best over the next 3-5 years.

My rating: 93 points.

I rarely drink Bordeaux young, but I went through probably 5-6 of those, the last of which was probably at least five years ago and most were probably more like 7-10 years ago. It was a very pretty and enjoyable wine at those ages. I wish I had saved some. Killer QPR.

I like the 05 right banks now too
