TN: 2005 Chanson Père et Fils Beaune 1er Cru Champimonts

  • 2005 Chanson Père et Fils Beaune 1er Cru Champimonts - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru (12/14/2011)
Darker ruby red. This was aerated over the evening in glasses. The nose was pretty stubborn for a short time, but eventually opened to show spiced red fruit and some orange zest. Medium bodied, this opened up in a more ethereal sense than one in which it gained weight. The first sips were pure fruit with some oak/spice accents, over the evening some darker more brooding elements as well as some savory elements added complexity. The acid is the backbone here and this has a long life ahead, as this is very bright and tart, and on the whole, still quite reserved. Tannins are present, but not intrusive. The finish is a bit brooding.
