TN: 2005 Cayuse Syrah Armada Vineyard (USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley)

  • 2005 Cayuse Syrah Armada Vineyard - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (9/21/2009)
This was one of the bottles a group of us took on a repositioning cruise from Seattle to Vancouver BC this past weekend (we had a rather eclectic group of wines all the way from a 73 Mondavi Cab to this).

On the nose, bacon and wild game, dark berry notes and a light hint of vanilla. On the palate, more meat, cherries and a little pepper. This wine was a well balanced, rocking masterpiece. Everyone that tried it loved it and this was a very diverse group of people. Delicious now but it might even be better with more time. Excellent stuff! (95 pts.)

David,
Thanks for the note. Amazed Cayuse doesn’t get much play here on the Berserker board, but then, I’m biased! Can’t wait to take delivery on my 06’s as it may have been the best American syrah I’ve tasted! Cheers

Thanks for the TN. Always wanted to try an Armada…but as it became known as a fantastic QPR, secondary prices went absolutely through the roof. I do LOVE the En Cerise and En Chamberlin, though…
