2005 André Méjan Tavel Canto Perdrix - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Tavel (5/29/2009)
Great summer quaffer. Just like many other Tavel wines I’ve had, this is in a masculin, muscular style with a deep rose color that is going on raspberry red. Not much on the nose other than minerals, but on the palate, I am getting a tiny bit of green olive, strawberry, raspberry, and a heap of crushed rock and dried herbs. I had a sip or two of this with some Corsican Fleur du Maquis cheese, and this is one of the best cheese/wine combos you can imagine. Extremely pleasurable, especially for a wine in this price range.
