TN: 2005 Bouchard Père et Fils Vosne-Romanée

  • 2005 Bouchard Père et Fils Vosne-Romanée - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée (6/14/2012)
This was ready for business within 15 minutes of opening. Dark garnet/burgundy color. Nose of dark fruit, mushrooms, cinnamon, nutmeg and truffles.
The full and fairly rich palate offers up dark raspberry and blackberry with an acidic undertone that pulls through the finish accompanied by chalky fine tannins. Surprisingly it paired well with grilled rib eye sandwiches as it had the acid and tannins to cut through the fat of the beef. Would liked to have seen what it would have done with more air but it was too good to let sit.

Nice. Haven’t popped any 05 Bouchards since release. Need to dig some of them out.

Makes me curious to try an 05 Beaune Teurons or Beaune de Chateau from Bouchard.

Yep. My plan was to dig out the de Chateau.
