I wanted something big. This was it. But, oh man, the oak. Purple/ruby in color. The nose is fresh cut lumber, raspberries, cocoa, dark chocolate, vanilla and fresh cut oak. Full bodied. On the palate, this was searing and hot so I decanted. After a few hours, it was way over oaked. Lots of fruit, but that was not enough. I poured it back in the bottle and recorked. On Day 2, it had hardly budged. So why, you might ask, did I give it an 89? It was a compromise with my wife who simply loved it. She does not mind oak, loves lots of fruit and loved this wine. My last bottle and I am glad, but for those who don’t mind oak, they might love this. (89 pts.)

Loren,
That’s how I remember it too. I was expecting that style with Chris Ringland involved.

I loved this wine in one vintage: 02. The year it was most likely “difficult” to love it.
