TN: 2005 Beaux Frères Pinot Noir Beaux Frères Vineyard

  • 2005 Beaux Frères Pinot Noir Beaux Frères Vineyard - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Ribbon Ridge (4/26/2020)
First sampling of this since purchase 13 years ago. Darker ruby. Nose of raspberry, brambly soil, violets, soothing blue fruits. A core of beautifully ripe but mature black cherry fruit girded by a fine-grained array of savory soil and iron on the palate. Freshening acidity and moderated tannin leading to a long finish of deepening black raspberry fruit, satin, spice, and iron particles. Exceedingly satisfying, a great showing. (93 pts.)

Sounds great, wondering if you think it might have gotten any better with more cellaring.

I had a few of these that I drank way before Doug,
My last probably 2016-17? They showed well and had shed baby fat, but I did not see a lot of development otherwise.

Hi Bill,

The wine showed beautifully and was right in my wheelhouse, however I am learning, to my delight, that Oregon PN can age nicely 20 years or more. So yes I think it will improve for at least a few more years yet.

Joshua,

To be honest I kind of forgot about these bottles until recently, when I was rummaging around in the woefully disorganized cellar. I probably would have consumed them way before otherwise!

Cheers,
Doug

Thanks for the note, Doug. I picked up a few bottles at auction recently and am looking forward to trying them.

.John,

I hope these show well for you. Nice you could grab some recently.

Cheers,
Doug
