TN: 2005 Arcadian Syrah Sleepy Hollow

On initial opening this has a bit of funk on the nose with some bright red fruits and road tar. After a couple of hours the funk turns into a floral aspect and a meaty character that’s attractive. The palate is a bit tight at first but opens up to reveal nice gamy/meaty red fruits and black pepper. The acidity is on the high side, which I like- it keeps the red, and now some blacker fruits, fresh tasting and lively on the finish. I will save the other half til tomorrow night, but this is a very good value for $16 at K&L. I’m glad a bought a few of these.

Nice note John. Sounds great.
My entry to Arcadian was the 2002 Sleepy Syrah.
Knocked me out a few years back and the rest is history.
I’ve yet to try the '05…Crazy good deal at KL.

Nice note, John.
Deal and a half if you ask me!

Had this last week and went back to K&L for 6 more. Best syrah I’ve had at this price point…

Stupid K&L won’t ship to me here in Va. Won’t ship to my mom in TN. Probably wouldn’t sell it to me if I walked in the store. Drats!

Chris

Same here. They’re one of the few holdouts (of the bigger names) that won’t ship to GA. Or CT.
My two options.

This wine is nuts for the price (and pretty tasty regardless). I have gone through a 6 pack already and have more on the way.

This has gained some weight over night, bringing more boysenberry, and some raspberry. The wine has softened a bit, giving it a more lush mouthfeel, but still has good balance, with the pepper, some baking spices and a rounder finish than last night. I’m thinking 3 more bottles is not enough at this pp. Insane QPR!

disclaimer: I don’t know Joe from Mo.

I picked up 6 today flirtysmile along with 6 of the 06 Havens Merlot at 6.99 a bottle.

those of you who like this wine should drink Lagrein if you don’t already.

Had another bottle last night. Damn this stuff is good.

Grabbed the last four bottles on K&L’s website. flirtysmile

BASTARD!!

I aim to please. neener

K&L has it in stock again.

Outrageous price for ANY of Joe’s wines . . . gotta believe he ain’t making any money on this . . . but the consumer is certainly getting a very very good wine for the $$$$$$.

Cheers!

People,
ya’ll should go to the Offline Planner and RSVP for the Arcadian Open House on March 13 (same day as Berserkerfest) … it’s only miles away … yes, I’m confident ya’ll can handle both in the same day!

Any of you kind-hearted berserkers who have stocked up at the KL price want to sell me a few?
They won’t ship here or anywhere else I have contacts.

How many is a few?
