TN: 2005 Antinori Tignanello Toscana IGT (Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT)

2005 Antinori Tignanello Toscana IGT - Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT (7/14/2009)
WIML92-93

Tasted July 14, 2009 off a restaurant wine list.

Opened and decanted. Followed over about 90 minutes. Dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. The nose on this wine is all that and a bag of chips. Nose of saddle soap, rose petals and black berries; very floral in nature. This youthful wine is still a little tight on the palate giving way to flavors of black berries, black cherries and a dash of currants. Bright acidity, firm tannins, full bodied. Continue to hold for at least another year or two before trying again. (93 pts.)

Looks like this is showing a bit better than the bottle I had about six months ago.

Needs more time though to show well. I’ve had it 3 times so far and it’s been consistent all 3 times but the first 2 were in Italy in October at the winery so obviously those 2 were impeccable provenance. This is the first bottle I’ve had stateside.
