1996 Château Potensac - France, Bordeaux, Médoc (10/18/2009)
Like a few of the previous notes on this wine, it’s probably just started it’s decline. I don’t think holding this any longer will do this wine any good.
Deep rubyish color leading to a somewhat pink rim. Nose of leather, mushroom, earth and just a touch of blackberries. Medium bodied wine in the mouth with tannins fully integrated on the back end. Medium length finish, good, not fantastic…drink up.

2005 Ambullneo Vineyards Pinot Noir “Mastiff Cuvée” Hyde and Hudson Vineyards - USA, California, North Coast, Carneros (10/17/2009)
With all the great CT notes on this, I really thought I was in for a treat. And wihle this is a well made wine, It was sort of just OK for me.
Darker Ruby color for a Pinot with black cherry and oak on the nose. Full bodied, fruit forward wine with the black cherries and some dark rasperries dominating the palate, leading to a medium length somewhat spicey finish.
All of it seemed a bit much though, too big with a ton of upfront fruit and not enough backbone to go the long haul IMO.
