2005 A.P. Vin Pinot Noir Garys’ Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands (4/25/2009)
This note is based upon the wine being open for a few days, which I think is for the better. Nose of black cherries, cola, loamy earth, and baking spices. Soft and plush on the palate, with good weight and earthy notes of cherries and raspberries, with some pomegranate on this finish. A hard to judge, ultimately, because it has been open for so long, but I thought it was drinking very fine tonight. On the palate, it reminds me of a very good village-level or premier cru red Burgundy. 88-89 points. (88 pts.)
