TN: 2004 Zind Humbrecht Riesling Clos Windsbuhl VT

Truth be told, we offered an insane price on this wine yesterday. I took one over to the in laws to pop after dinner By the way, with dinner I drank a 2008 Gustav Gruner Veltliner that was pretty terrific QPR.

The Riesling was amazing. Reviews said it was young, but opened one hour in advance did the trick. Loads of apricot type scents, this was absolutely delicious. At 9% alcohol, I probably could have polished off a double mag without issue.

Retail price?

Suggested Retail Price is $127 according to the WA review.

Dan, you baby killing bastard! What was the insane price you offered on this beauty? Also what about drinking window for those of us who like our ZH with a wee bit of age on it?

Scott

I recently drank a 1996 Hengst Gewurztraminer that was still very good, so I would think 15 more years for this VT.

Scott, it was $59 the other day…

Dan,
Here in Monopoly land that’s a great deal!

Anyone had the 98 of this recently? If so what would u pair it w

Chicken with mushrooms, maybe in a cream sauce.

I could enjoy these wines without food as well

Scott

Which monopoly land?

Tarte Flambee. Alsatian pate or sausages. When in doubt, pair with regional food. Not a fan of choucroute with wines with significant rs, though.

Dan,
Ontario, “Where the government hand never leaves your pocket!”

Yeah, it is cold and overpriced up there.
